Katsumi turned sideways on his stool and leaned back against the wooden wall of the stand, looking at the girl who had skipped over to him, removing any of the awkward moments he foresaw himself having as he tried to introduce himself.
"No" He replied lightly, trying not to sound blunt. "I've travelled through the country before on travels as a child, but never to here..." He drifted off, unsure what to say. Shrugging and pulling himself upright to look better at the newcomer, he quickly assumed her to be of a similar age, the eagerness in her strange, seemingly pupil-less eyes dispelling his worries. He smiled.
"Kuninobu Katsumi, nice to meet you" he said, holding out a hand politely.

As he turned toward her and casually leaned against the counter she felt something shift somewhere in her mind, though she didn't know what to call it. This feeling puzzled her, and for a moment she considered the idea of it being some kind of mind-attack, but those thoughts vanished as he held out his hand to her.
She took it happily, feeling quite loved by all the new people she was meeting.
"So you like to travel huh? I was just telling my friend Zam-sama over there that I was thinking of leaving this place...but I'm not sure where to go without being all by myself."
He looked at her eyes, which meant a lot to her. It had been those eyes that had plagued a man with pain for the rest of his life long ago; since then, no one looked at her eyes, afraid she would scar them as well. She happily held his gaze with hers, basking in the sensations she was feeling.

Meanwhile.... Senshi found a quiet place on top a roof in a abandon section of the village. He then got into a meditation pose a drifted off into a trance.

"Zam-sama, huh?" he looked to the girl's friend at the opposite end of the counter and nodded to him. "Hi to you, too, then" he grinned again, pleasantly relaxed as the girl stared back at him. For reasons unknown to him, she seemed almost ecstatic as she stood behind him. He hid a chuckle as he thought about her. Somehow, he felt as if he knew her, and he was at ease being there with her. Mariko. Kitsu's energic speech and attitude reminded him of his lost friend, and he diverted his gaze from hers, suddenly somewhat sullen. "Add some sake to that order" he muttered, turning back to the barkeep. The man behind the counter eyed his customer for a moment as he noted the sudden change of mood, and placed a half bottle and cup down for him. katsumi glanced back at the girl, trying to lighten the frown that had crawled onto his face. "At least sit down" he said, eyeing a cupful of the liquid cradled in his hand but not drinking it.

Zam nodded his head in acknowledgement with his mouth full of ramen. Swallowing the mouth full, Zam then said "Just some sake? Must be having a bad day, then?"

She happily plopped down on the stool beside him, and with a happy glance to Zam, turned back to her new friend. She noticed his change of mood them moment he looked away.
"Are you okay Katsu-kun?" Her eyes had the same concerned look that a puppy might have when it's bone is taken away. She looked at the sake and started talking again, "I've never tried sake, I've heard it makes people act funny. I don't know about you, but I know my head's good the way it is!" she smiled, pointing at her head.
She then brought her hands up to cup her chin as she gazed at him. If she had been anyone else, she would have felt a connection as well, but since she was who she was, she saw the new bond as identical to the others, however unknown to her it was very, very different.

He hung his head a little as he stared at the drink infront of him.
"In a way. Everyone has rough days, here and there" He dismissed the issue, "I'm fine" he insisted, although the joy had vanished from his face and he avoided looking at the others.
"Just a little is fine" he muttered, more to himself than Kitsu, and swallowed the drink before pouring another.
"How about you two? Whats your story?" The chef placed his order infront of him, and Katsumi began eating slowly, his appetite gone.

Kitsu’s façade kept the same concerned look, and she angled her head to the side, watching him as he took a sip. “Do you have any friends Katsu-kun?” she asked with her normal, happy tone. Yes, this was by far the most startling, out-of-place, serious, awkward, and rather personal question she had asked all day, or ever for that matter, but her intentions were good. She watched his reaction, watched him more intently than she had anyone before. Her gaze held a hint of unknown emotion; despite the fact that Kitsu didn’t notice it, there was a strong possibility he would.
It was sure that her question had made him uneasy, but she continued speaking nonetheless, “Don’t be sad,” she said cheerfully, adjusting slightly, hoping to catch his gaze again and the smile returning warmly to her face, “I’ll be your friend.” It was then she noticed that there was a difference between this man and the other two she had met earlier. Also, she decided to accept the fact that this new feeling buzzing in her stomach was another sign that set him apart from the others; though she was too naïve to know that it was in fact, attraction. Even as he sat there, gloomily with his sake, she felt as if there were more to him. Somehow, it was as if she knew him, or perhaps she just saw her past in his weary eyes. Despite her happy disposition, she knew sadness, loss, and more importantly, loneliness all too well. At that moment he had the same look in his eyes that she had when that dark chapter of her life had been at its peak.
She kept quiet now, acting her age and setting her giddy, wild, attitude aside but keeping her joyful composure. Even though the atmosphere had suddenly seemed to have grown dark, to Kitsu it was warm. She radiated comfort and trust, through not only her eyes, but her entire being. For now, all she could think to do was to offer her smile and friendship to him without hesitation or worry.
Kitsu kept her gaze soft and steady upon him; understandingly, knowingly, and somewhat wishfully. As much as she had wanted people to like her, trust her, in the past she had never wanted that more than at this moment. However, remember that Kitsu was unaware that her soul was left so bare through her eyes. She was oblivious to all that her eyes were telling him and so, though she felt all this deep inside, she would not be able to consciously acknowledge any of this, without some heavy persuasion.

"My, my! What's a small crowd like this doing in such a run down shop?" Zen smiled and patted the chef on the back.
"Ah...don't look so gloomy, you're ruining my mood." He sat down right next to Katsumi and smiled. "I think a beef ramen would be nice." He said motioning to the chef. The chef immediately started working.
"I suppose you don't know my name; seeing as how I've only been here for a day. Though, it would be nice, to have complete strangers know your name...I imagine that's what fame is like. Ah...I'm rambling...my name is Zen."

Senshi awoke from his trance and was bored as one could be. He then remembered the guy who had a katana when he left the ramen shop and smiled as he jumped off the building and walked to the shop with a sadistic grin.

Katsumi, having had the moment of mourning for his lost friend - aswell as the sake to lighten his mood - forced himself to let the feeling pass. He nodded politely to Zen as he sat beside him. "Katsumi" he replied, simply, before returning his gaze to Kitsu.
"Heh, I'm quite popular today, no?" He spoke, thought for a moment, then offered her the half-empty bottle of sake. "A first time for everything" he grinned childishly, trying to subtly move the subject on from that of his friends without too much blatant evasion. He realized he was staring directly into her eyes and hastily tried to look elsewhere, but subconcsiously his gaze kept returning.
Where are your manners? He chided himself inside his head, mimicking his fathers' wizened voice. But... Just who is this girl? That intense look...Her eyes. Beautiful, yeah, but...different. It's almost as if you can see a well of emotion waiting to be tapped into...or, a hidden agenda? The thougts bombarded the inside of his skull, but he gave no hint of their existence on the outside. Nevertheless, this might not be good... his mind's eye flicked over the memory of the three people in the bar, studying their movements, expressions - he was sure of it, all four of them in this Ramen stand were ninja, and there was nothing to say that they werent hostile. Even the girl he was beginning to feel friendly towards wore a loose headband showing the symbol of the Hidden Sound Village on her hip... Ignore it. He commanded himself stubbornly, anyone with hostile intentions would be stupid to do so here...this is a time to enjoy yourself. Besdies, He shifted his gaze from kitsu to the sky outside then back again, feeling his mood lighten significantly, It's sizing up to be a pretty pleasant evening. He made a mental note to sleep rough that night, preferably on a hilltop with a good view of the sunset and rise.

Senshi got to the front of the Ramen stand and his grin still sadistic. 'Now....it's time for some fun!'

Zen yawned loudly. "Mm...Ramen always makes me sleepy." Zen smiled at Katsumi.
"Oh? You're not usually popular? You gave me the impression that you always hung out with pretty girls and old friends. Maybe that's just today?" Zen laughed freely.
[You can probably tell that Zen isn't good at making friends. Most of his comments are taken as sarcastic]

Kitsu found herself blushing as she looked, wide-eyed, at the sake. Her big green eyes looked back up at him, then down again at the drink. She timidly raised her hand to take it, and as she did, her fingers brushed his- though not intentionally. She gazed at him for reassurance before closing her eyes tightly and gulping down the whole thing at once!
She made a sour face and shook her head, setting the bottle down on the counter and raising the other hand to her forehead. "That stuff it..." She blinked and shook her head again, frowning slightly, she trailed off trying to keep focused on something. Already, she felt like she was sick or dizzy. Seeing as how she had never had alcohol ever before, she held a very low tolerance for it. However she kept from passing out, for now, despite the fact that she had just drank half a bottle of sake.
She tried to hand the bottle back to him, but upon doing so, lost her balance on the stool and fell off, right onto his lap. Her eyes looked dizzly up at him,
"He-here's your-" she hiccuped once, "b-bottle." She blinked slowly, unaware of her position. She swayed putting her chin on his chest, slumped against him, looking at him before her hand dropped, limply still holding the bottle.
[OOC: I bet the chef is having a great time watching all this! XD]
"Woooow," she said, her voice low, almost whispery, "I feel...funny." She sniffed and blinked again, now oblivious to everyone except Katsu, who was of course, directly in her blurred vision.

Katsumi started, shocked.
"You just downed a half-bottle..." He laughed openly at her innocence, embarrassed by the way she was slumped over him. "I guess I best take her home." He said to Zen, "I can't really leave a drunk teenage girl wandering around, can I?" He sighed, still somewhat taken aback by the sudden turn of events. He placed his hands on her arms and lifted her up slightly, shifting her weight to her own legs instead of his. "Can you stand?" he held her experimentally, knowing she wasn't in the best of situations to reply...
